Dynamic compaction workDynamic soil compaction is a process used to densify soils over large thicknesses. This work is performed using a crawler crane that lifts and drops a mass of steel to the ground repeatedly. The impact of the steel mass on the ground generates vibrations that propagate to the surface. Depending on the distance from the work area, some people may feel vibrations. However, the magnitude of these vibrations remains well below the threshold of possible damage to existing buildings.

Terminal 13: major works for the regionTerminal 13 is the last element of the Port of Trois-Rivières’ Cap sur 2020 plan, which will have been completed three years ahead of schedule. Construction of Terminal 13 includes the reconstruction of Pier 13, the consolidation of Pier 14 and the development of the storage area along these wharves, as well as road and rail access to this infrastructure complex, which will cover a total area of approximately 23,500 square metres (5.81 acres).

The construction of this multi-purpose facility creates more than 300 direct and indirect jobs, while the operation of the terminal will create approximately 70 jobs. It should be recalled that the Government of Canada is investing $16.2 million in this infrastructure, the Trois-Rivières Port Authority is investing $19 million, while approximately $15 million will be added by the private sector for handling equipment.

We apologize to anyone who may be inconvenienced during the dynamic compaction work and thank them for their patience and understanding.
