The Port of Trois-Rivières is celebrating its 140th anniversary this year. In 1881, the Trois-Rivières Chamber of Commerce was founded to represent the voice of the Trois-Rivières business community to the federal government in order to convince it to create the Trois-Rivières Harbour Commission, the forerunner of the current port authority.

On May 17, 1882, the Harbour Commission was created and its mission was to modernize the port’s facilities, integrate them to the railway network and thus stimulate the region’s economy.
