Tuesday, July 25, 2017 – The Société de développement économique du Saint-Laurent (Sodes) invites the public to visit its travelling exhibition of artistic photographs with a maritime flavour in Hector-Louis Langevin Park, located near the river in downtown Trois-Rivières, from July 25 to August 14. Quite unique, the exhibition created by the Sodes and produced by EXMURO arts publics presents photos of maritime infrastructures and is arranged as an art gallery inside a container.
In 2016, the Sodes had the idea of creating an exhibition of artistic photographs of maritime infrastructures that would travel throughout Quebec each summer in order to present industrial sites to the population from a different perspective. A professional photographer travelled to different places to capture a ship, port terminals, different ports and locks. Under the impetus of EXMURO arts publics, the basic structure of the exhibition took the form of a maritime container arranged like an art gallery, in order to refer to maritime identity.
“We are very proud of this photo exhibition set up inside a maritime container. Not only is the exhibition unique, but it also allows the public to discover places dedicated to the industry from an artistic and playful perspective. This is an opportunity for us to raise people’s interest in the marine industry,” said Nicole Trépanier, President and CEO of Sodes. Delivered by ship – Thank you my river! This exhibition is part of the campaign to promote the maritime industry Delivered by ship – Merci mon fleuve, coordinated by the Sodes. Its objective is to raise awareness among Quebecers of the importance of the marine industry in everyone’s life. She reminded us that most of the objects surrounding us are delivered by ship and have travelled on the St. Lawrence.
La Sodes would like to thank the Port of Trois-Rivières for hosting the travelling photography exhibition. After its visit to the Port of Trois-Rivières, the container will travel through various cities in the province until next fall. Follow his path! :
