Trois-Rivières, September 20 2019 – The Port of Trois-Rivières is pleased to announce that an open house will be held on Saturday, September 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On this occasion, several activities await the population and will allow them to discover or rediscover the Port. In addition to the bus tour of the port facilities used for ship loading/unloading and cargo handling operations, activities will extend to the Port Park.
A Québec-Gatineau Railways locomotive will be accessible to visitors near the Port’s administrative offices. A display of marine photographs in a container will also be installed in Park Hector-Louis-Langevin and old photographs will be displayed at the Gare Maritime. The Lampsilis research vessel from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières will also be docked and will welcome people aboard for a presentation of their scientific activities and missions.
Finally, a large tent will welcome the Port’s partners, who will provide a wealth of information about their organization and activities at the Port of Trois-Rivières. Alcoa, the Maritime Employers Association, the Comité sectoriel de main d’œuvre de l’industrie maritime, the Corporation des Pilotes du St-Laurent central, the Trois-Rivières-Bécancour Stevedores, G3 Canada, Groupe Océan, Groupe Somavrac, the Institut maritime du Québec and Logistec have already confirmed their presence. Visitors are also invited to take the opportunity to donate clothing or non- perishable food items to the volunteers at the Seamen’s Club who will be present.
Throughout their visit to the various open house activities, the public will be invited to answer questions as part of the port rally for a chance to win tickets for an AML cruise or a basket of local products, courtesy of Tourisme Trois-Rivières.
In short, this open house is a unique opportunity to discover the Port and meet a dynamic port community.
