Thursday April 27 2017 – The members of the Board of Directors of the Trois-Rivières Port Authority announced the election of Ms. Danielle St-Amand as Chair of the Board and Mr. Luc Arvisais as Vice-Chair. These elections are effective as of May 1, 2017. They follow the end of the mandates of Mr. Cléo Marchand and Ms. Martine Gravel. Mr. Cléo Marchand, outgoing Chair of the Board, emphasized: “The skills, vision and personal qualities of Ms. St-Amand and Mr. Arvisais will certainly contribute to maintaining a culture of excellence in corporate governance of the TRPA. I wish them the greatest success”. [Translation]
Danielle St-Amand, Chair of the TRPA Board of Directors
Ms. St-Amand, Director of the TRPA Board since September 2014, is the first woman to serve as its Chair. She indicated: “I am very excited to continue the Board’s work. The next few years are promising, with a regional community proud to support the projects of this growing organization”. [Translation]
With a postgraduate degree in social communications, Ms. St-Amand is Director of the Service du développement institutionnel (institutional development department) at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. She previously served as a Member of Parliament for Trois-Rivières for six years in the National Assembly of Quebec. In addition, she was Executive Director for the Fondation du Centre hospitalier régional de Trois-Rivières (CHRTR), the Festival Western de Saint-Tite and the Mauricie Regional Tourism Association. She has also been a member of several boards of socio-economic organizations.
Luc Arvisais, Vice-Chair of the TRPA Board of Directors
Mr. Arvisais has been a Director of the TRPA Board since May 2012. Born in Shawinigan, he has been Director of Economic Development for the City of Shawinigan since 2007. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the UQTR. Prior to his arrival at the City, he was General Manager for the Festival Western de Saint-Tite from 2004 to 2007, General Manager of the Fonds régional de solidarité FTQ Mauricie Centre-du-Québec from 2001 to 2004, General Manager and Industrial Commissioner at the CLD Of Centre-de-la-Mauricie from 1994 to 2001 and Director of provincial activities and communications at the Groupement des chefs d’entreprises du Québec from 1989 to 1994.
End of mandate for three directors
May 2017 marks the end of the mandate for three directors of the TRPA Board who have served since 2008. Mr. Cléo Marchand has served as Chair of the Board for the past five years. Ms. Martine Gravel has served as Vice-Chair and Chair of the Governance Committee for the past five years. Finally, Mr. François Dupuis, served as Chair of the Audit Committee.
Mr. Boivin, President and CEO of the TRPA, goes on to say: “The three directors who are completing their terms can be proud of what they have accomplished. I want to thank them for their continued commitment over the past nine years. They have contributed to the implementation of the On Course for 2020 strategic plan and will have had the opportunity to see it completed in December, just before the end of their mandate and almost four years ahead of schedule.”
