Friday November 10 2017 – Over the past 5 years, as part of the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie, the Port of Trois-Rivières’ Roue Libre cycling team has been committed to funding the region’s elementary schools. Together with Pierre Lavoie and many other sponsors, the cyclists presented a check for $ 38,650 to the Curé-Chamberland and Saint-François-d’Assise schools; the team’s largest donation to date.
Each school received a $ 19,325 grant for the purpose of developing healthy lifestyle projects in their respective communities. For the Curé-Chamberland school, the grant money will be invested to revitalize the schoolyard by paving and lining a basketball court. At the Saint-François-d’Assise school, stationary bicycles with silent pedals will be purchased and funding will be provided for extracurricular sports activities such as cheerleading.
