Trois-Rivières, June 17, 2021 – The Port of Trois-Rivières is very proud to have welcomed today the Minister for Transport, Chantal Rouleau, the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity and Minister responsible for the Mauricie region, Jean Boulet, as well as several partners in the maritime industry, for the official announcement of Quebec’s new maritime vision: Avantage Saint-Laurent.

It is precisely because of this strong community that the Port of Trois-Rivières is often recognized as a model, notably for its innovative and sustainable initiatives, its relationship based on transparency and collaboration with the City and its citizens, and its commitment to the regional environment,” said Gaétan Boivin, President and CEO of the Port of Trois-Rivières, in his introduction to the announcement.
After having successfully completed On Course for 2020, the Port of Trois-Rivières is now embarking on On Course for 2030. The maritime vision “Avantage Saint-Laurent” provides important additional support to the realization of this development plan. From the major Terminal 21 project, to the development of a specialized road corridor for the transportation of non-standard equipment, to the redevelopment and optimization of rail and roadways, to the achievement of carbon neutrality, to the integration of artificial intelligence, to the smart port project, the Port of Trois-Rivières is in step with the Government of Quebec, which is relying on the maritime sector to become a powerful vector for economic, social, and environmental development.

The Port is an important player in regional, national and international economic development for major industrial sectors such as the aluminum industry, forestry and agri-food. The Port of Trois-Rivières accommodates 55,000 trucks, 11,000 railcars and more than 250 merchant and cruise ships annually originating from over 100 different ports in more than 40 countries around the world. It handles over 3.3 million metric tonnes of traffic and generates more than 2,000 direct, indirect and induced jobs.
